Using disaster to create the government of your choice

Look at Greece and the neo-NAZI "golden dawn" party, and until recently the Goldman Sacks lackey in charge of Italy, and his henchmen scattered around Europe in government and banking. Debt to the big banks, among other things, has helped to create disaster situations in which the very rich have installed personnel and even entire political parties which will benefit the growth of their enterprise and power.

When you look at the people of America, you are looking at Personal Convenience as a main motivating factor. Helping Others is another but it doesn't factor in this particular equation. When Personal Convenience is directly assaulted, people will be unhappy and want it to change. When it becomes bad enough, people will scream for change. Unfortunately the powers that be fully understand this sadistic possibility and opportunity: you can purposefully create the causes and conditions in which people will demand Change no matter what, and will jump to demand placed into power, any who shout that they can deliver it. Even those who have created the problem in order to be placed into power.

This has occurred two particular times in recent history:

1. The Bush Disaster Family and their ties with OPEC caused an oil embargo which made President Carter appear weak and foolish. Americans were significantly impacted and they demanded Change. Bush also managed to get reportedly get Iran to hold the hostages until Reagan took office to again make Carter appear weak and foolish. Worked like a charm and disaster waltzed right in. From Reagan we see the beginning of the destruction of unions and the middle class, the start of the long game which is currently reaching fruition.

2. The major Bush supporters Enron met with Schwarzenneger before purposefully shutting down portions of the California power grid, a series of events named "rolling blackouts". Californians wanted Change. A run-off election occurred and Schwarzenneger waltzed right in and immediately began hacking away at infrastructure serviceperson pensions and unions, schools, etc. And Enron were forgiven the rulings against them to the tune, IIRC, of pennies on the dollar.

Now Michigan is an entirely new type of situation. Rachel Maddow warned us about the far right "tea party" (read: Koch Brothers) politicians in Michigan steamrolling the political process as well as wishing to grab up the bequeathed beach-front property in otherwise impoverished, African-American Benton Harbor. Pontiac, Benton Harbor, and shortly Detroit are under the tender loving ministrations of "emergency managers" who through appointment by the State, are free to do as they will with all resources. And Wall Street have walked away from Detroit's distress to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars in profit.

Forcing cuts upon the poor while the rich benefit is "austerity" as seen in Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, and now America.

Although Big Ed (love him) appears to not see that the "emergency manager" process is a planned scam, his overview of its effects is superb and frightening:

Since Lou Schimmel became Pontiac’s emergency manager in 2011, he has privatized the Department of Public Works, outsourced police services to the Oakland County sheriff’s office, and turned over the city’s fire department to nearby Waterford Township, killing the public sector unions which represented the city’s firefighters and cops. He’s put every city property, including City Hall, up for sale and cut the city’s public employee workforce by about 90%. And he’s done it all without the consent of the city council.

Across Michigan, emergency managers installed by the state are using sweeping powers to privatize public services, lay off city employees, and weaken public sector unions with little standing in their way. Now the same thing is likely to happen in Motor City, one of the industrial centers of America.

Ostensibly a mechanism for rescuing insolvent Michigan cities and school districts from the brink of bankruptcy, the Emergency Management system has turned into a way for unelected officials to break up public sector unions, privatize public services, and drastically shrink the size of municipal governments. Currently, five Michigan cities are being administered by emergency managers—all of whom were appointed by the state’s Local Emergency Financial Assistance Loan Board (ELB).

When a city fails to meet certain financial benchmarks, the state can step in.

To have the state step in, it helps to have a Koch Brothers-funded "tea party" politician as governor.

"...it secures a dream of the anti-union Koch brothers and the American Legislative Exchange Council, whose associates are well-represented among Snyder’s donors, and whose economic agenda has been ascendant within the modern GOP."

Rachel Maddow warned in 2011:

"Last night on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow show, Maddow explained that Michigan Republican Governor Rick Snyder is pushing a bill through that will give ultimate governmental power literally to corporations, thereby using shock doctrine tactics to create a dystopian government. Synder’s bill not only goes after collective bargaining rights, but does in fact seem to represent the Republicans’ final solution to killing democracy by enabling the replacement of elected officials, dissolving entire city’s government and handing them over to corporations. Snyder calls his 'budget bill' a 'shared sacrifice,' but it gifts corporations with 1.8 billion in tax breaks while hitting citizens with harder taxes, including seniors and other vulnerables, and cutting essential services to an already suffering region."

Note that energy was involved twice, and that the right wing pulled it off. Energy and such are issues which are not effected by voting, and the right and the rich will use such lateral stunts to direct politics in their preferred direction. See the Koch brother article I posted yesterday.

Read "The Shock Doctrine" and "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" and "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room". Debt and disaster are used to ripen conditions for control and profit. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette. And debt is the main tool being used as far as I can see to ripen conditions in Europe. This may be why it is seemingly impossible to get politicians to do something, anything about the $1 trillion of US student loan debt. Our young are already in their thrall.

The Citigroup "Plutonomy" memo mentions the rich wanting right-wing, anti-immigration governments which will aid in profitable globalisation efforts. The very rich are most certainly engaging in their creation as we post. Voting will not slow down these corporations. But note that the memo lists their first and most significant fear, which is of a populist uprising demanding fair income equality and action against right-wing, corporate and bank-friendly politics.

The scams "fiscal cliff", "sequestration", "debt ceiling" all have the same thing in common:

Money. And the banks and investors and very rich who profit from it all.

This began when BushCo created debt to "pay" for what have become endless war budgets, which also profit the very rich. Debt is slavery, and its after-effects can be used to destablize entire currencies and countries. (Edit: actually, before that with Reagan and his handlers looking to destroy unions and the middle-class.) When they are in enough trouble, you'll suddenly find new plans to deepen the cuts to the non-rich, which is a double-dip called "austerity". The rich took the money in the first place, then they take it again by further hurting the non-rich. The "wars", the bank and wall street "bailouts" (read: handouts) were part one to create destablization. This is now part 2: not stopping handouts to the rich while cutting the non-rich to shreds. There is a definite double-standard occurring and we've already seen its continuing results in Greece, etc.

Neocon Paul Wolfowitz was in charge of the World Bank for a minute; goes to motive and connections. Have you read "Confessions of an Economic Hitman"? "The Shock Doctrine"? Gotta break some eggs if you want to make an omelette. Just look at Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, and more, and know that it is now in effect here, and therein lies the potential for further bank/plutonomy take-over via puppets in positions of power as well as the rise of any "emergency" government replacements such as the neo-NAZI "Golden Dawn" party. Inconvenience people enough and they'll beg for whomever promises a solution, to be in power. Even if they're electing the ones who caused the problems in the first place.

Herbert Walker Bush helped make President Carter look a fool through multiple extra-partisan actions, including through family friends OPEC, an embargo which hit Americans squarely in their Personal Convenience. Surprise, Americans then wanted change, =any= change, and Saint Reagan waltzed right in. Enron pulled the exact same tactic upon California, meeting with Schwarzenneger prior to purposely causing "rolling blackouts" in the CA power grid, pushing Californians in their Personal Convenience, causing them to demand Change, ANY change, which allowed Schwarzenneger to waltz right in. He immediately began attacking nurses, fire fighters, infrastructure, pensions, slashed CA mental health care by 60% in a single stroke of the pen...beware disaster as it can be a purposeful setting of the stage, a stacking of the deck, to provide for a pre-planned outcome. And Enron were an enormous W. Bush contributor/supporter who were among the first to begin buyouts of water supplies, which now involves many companies including Citigroup and also the Bush family proper.

This is all about the bankster behind the curtain. And of course the people have forgotten that THEY are the power and all of these KLOWNS merely represent us. Until it's no longer klowns but only banksters. Because right now they're setting the stage, creating the causes and conditions, through which to turn us into Greece.

I’ve had an article in draft for some time — “The 16 Deadlines Facing America” — that details each deadline, describes the dangers, and states why each faces an end-point rather than just a periodic fluctuation... 8. Creation via trade agreements of a transnational state that enshrines corporate sovereignty

10. Permanently expanding national security state, including militarization of police, widespread spying and punishment for political crimes
11. The ticking time bomb of increasing numbers of returning untreated war-damaged battle-trained veterans
12. Oil dependence without recognition of oil as a soon-to-be-depleted energy source
13. Deterioration of the environment, largely due to oil and carbon dependence, among other causes
14. Destruction of the integrity of our food supply
15. Destruction of public education
16. Climate catastrophe and the collapse of human populations and level of civilization

My bottom line, and the surprise discovery, is that every single one is driven by one common cause — internationalist billionaires.

The above site gives it a 1% chance of being passed, but as an Occupy activist who has watched cops arrest 7400 of us and more, beaten several (I was assaulted by PD for attempting to film them tackling completely innocent fellow Occupiers), and created laws against it, the above bill appeals to the cynic in me as the =potential= formation of enforcers and thugs who would happily bring down the Stanford Experiment upon the nation. If they are "deployed" within the US, it would breach Posse Comitatus.

Why would anyone create enforcers and thugs? There is a business lobby in LA which employ faux police around the downtown area, including to criminalize and daily harass the homeless out of the area (which cca intend to gentrify). Say hello to my little austerity- What may come, what to work against

Austerity is now upon America. What are the logical Trends to watch for, to prepare against, to fight, to beat?

-This will hit many Americans in their Personal Convenience. The PC button is one of the main buttons to hit if you want outrage and action. (Caring for one another in time of crisis is another, and this will also come forth. Mutual Aid.)

-The poor and weak will shortly begin being hit; outrageous conditions become revealed and broadcast

-Social unrest will grow as this time, many people already have some idea of what Occupy was discussing

-If it reaches the point of marching in the streets, Occupy and simply outraged citizens, the riot cop problem and its continuation (courts, the prison-industrial complex) will follow. We need a solution to this obstacle.

-DHS and "police" will set "rules" against citizen self-expression (marching, gathering)

-If things get to the point as in Greece, Spain, Italy, etc. with tens of thousands marching, even surrounding government demanding they do something, the DHS and "police" response will worsen.

-If there is violence, even by paid provocateur(s), they can immediately tighten laws and increase their response. Drones would likely be "required" to monitor for "violence" (read: now we get to monitor all of you like we always wanted to). They know Occupy might come back even larger in proportion to their actions and they HAVE to have plans against it.

-Watch more cities fall into the "tea party" "emergency manager" rules now taking over Michigan (there's no money! have a dictator!).

-The Koch brothers and the banks behind the "tea party" will automatically gain power.

-Watch the EU states most hit by the "austerity" power-grab scam. Some have installed Goldman Sachs ex-employees as Prime Ministers and bank execs. Lew in the US was just effectively paid by Citigroup to take a government position.

-The Citigroup "Plutonomy" memo lists right-wing, anti-immigration governments as being friendly to the expansion plans of the rich. Enough social trouble results in things such as run-off elections which install such "governments". This was done in California by Enron, who had meetings with Schwarzenneger before causing "rolling blackouts" in the power grid which so inconvenienced citizens they demanded a run-off election. Schwarzenneger immediately began attacking social infrastructure and the pensions of firefighters and nurses, among other things, cutting mental health care by 60% in one swipe. Most obviously, the very rich WANT "just enough" unrest through which to further their goals, and I believe they have plans long since in place. The "Plutonomy" memo identified social trends in other Plutonomy states as resulting in Occupy and similar...and they mentioned increasing signs of such, in 2006. They know, and they're planning and keeping watch.

Citing an immediate public health threat, the city of Los Angeles will ask the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday to overturn a lower court ruling preventing the random seizure and destruction of belongings that homeless people leave temporarily unattended on public sidewalks.

If the court takes up the matter, a ruling could have broad implications for cities across the state and nation grappling with how to keep streets clean and safe while respecting the property rights of those who live there.

The Supreme Court filing comes after two years of legal wrangling between Los Angeles officials and homeless advocates over a controversial campaign to clean up downtown’s skid row, which has the highest concentration of homeless people in the city.

“We have an obligation to the homeless, as well as to the other residents and businesses on skid row, to ensure their health through regularly cleaning skid row’s streets and sidewalks,” City Atty. Carmen Trutanich said in a statement. “The current outbreak of tuberculosis among that most vulnerable population should serve as a stern reminder to us all of just who and what is at risk in this matter.”

I have reported here regarding LA's Skid Row and LA's true seat of power, ccala.org, who are desperate to remove the homeless so that they can continue gentrifying downtown as well as expanding their corporate policing force. LA has been attacking this ruling forever, constantly at work against it, which forces police to put a note on property they suspect may be abandoned, with a 24-hour window. This was fought for to stop them from simply taking whatever they want at will, because a person's medication, ID, legal papers, and personal belongings may be involved and lost, and it's obvious the city doesn't care at all. Skid Row is walking distance from City Hall. Also, this definitely affects other cities. This is horrible, it is terrible. There are true monsters involved.

What are cca's corporate police, which they seek to expand? This is LAPD during one of their many attacks upon OccupyLA marches. Note the ones in purple. They are cca corporate security, acting as police alongside LAPD.

When OccupyLA found that cca HATED water-soluble children's sidewalk chalk (or more specifically, its use for what they call "intelligence-based graffiti", which in their future plans PDF they mention intending to eliminate from downtown), some took to documenting it. Music artist Michelle Shocked made this short video which at the end features one of cca's purple shirts in true form. Remember, these shirts are hired by a business lobby, and they police the city streets:

I've seen purple shirts harassing the homeless, driving them away. I've seen the red shirts on Skid Row calling LAPD for no reason. I've seen LAPD seizing all of a person's property after arresting them for no reason, including the Catholic Worker shopping carts, which by law no one is supposed to touch. I've heard Skid Row residents say the red shirts are there every morning, looking to torment them. They are certainly ever-present, I've seen it myself.

The head of the cca has stated they have a definite plan regarding the homeless, and this brazen, monstrous attempt to use a TB outbreak to petition the courts to end laws protecting the homeless is certainly proof.

Carol Schatz of cca, 2004: "We have a very specific agenda related to homelessness." In early 2012, cca stopped their street-cleaning and garbage collection services in an area of Skid Row where Occupy Skid Row activists had set up camp. This was alongside their call for a study of the entire area to determine health risks. This study did NOT include the area of the OSR encampment. OSR activists said that the city came through several times to take photos of any resulting garbage but OSR were cleaning things on their own. When the call came down through the study to create change in certain areas of Skid Row (again, NOT including OSR's area), LAPD =first= attacked the OSR street, and forced them out, telling them not to come back. Which they promptly did, causing another police attack, and another re-encampment in the same day. LAPD chief Charlie Beck was seen in in a cruiser which then slowly went past, showing cca's reach and depth. And now cca could be hurting the homeless in other cities, through their unlimited selfishness.

In 2006, Citigroup's analysis section circulated among the privileged and elite, an internal memo describing the state of the economy as may benefit and harm the continued establishment of a Plutonomic state, or Plutonomy, which is a state or economy driven and owned by said elite.

Michael Moore gloriously leaked this memo in his film “Capitalism: A Love Story”. Bravo!

The memo reveals several critical factors regarding our economy and country, the driving forces behind them, and the social engineering being undertaken on behalf of the elite's goals. Not theories, but critical facts which must become focal in which to understand and combat the trends and forces at work.

When you wonder “Who is to blame, Who is behind this, Who are 'They' and What can we Do about 'Them'”, this is it. Take their advice. It works for them extremely well. It's about all they do. In understanding them, we can beat them. In knowing their plans and reach, we may counter them.

Findings revealed in the memo:

-The economies of the US, UK, and Canada are driven by the very rich, not everyone else combined

-They enjoy specific modes of growth (Globalization and politics used to insure it [the Trans Pacific Partnership])

-Threats to their growth (historic models reveal trends and outcomes predicting the Occupy movement or similar; weaknesses of Plutonomy)

-Equities are the main asset of the rich; homes are that of the rest. The housing bubble and the illegal foreclosure engine do not harm the rich; on the contrary

-Methods of Plutonomy self-protection include direct corporate influence of the political process (Citizens United, oppression of Occupy, formation of the “tea party”, etc.)

-The very rich profit from the spy technology revolution (TSA scanners, militarization of police, etc.) which also provides for social control and the oppression of dissent (Occupy, etc.).

-As the economy is driven by the rich, the challenge is to switch that to one driven by the 99%.

The memo does not even include mention of the corporate alliance ALEC who are writing laws which are being passed in various states, such as “stand your ground” and “right to work”. Corporations writing laws. The TPP are a global version of this and we do not get to vote.

This is WWIII. It is economic, it has long since begun, and it is the 1% against all the rest of us.

Page 10 of the Memo states that 80% of Americans own little equity, with housing being their biggest asset. Page 12 states that equities are the main asset of the rich. Not odd then that they've attacked the housing market. Hit 80% of your target in a single blow, in their main asset...think like a warrior, attacking vulnerabilities. Would this harm the economy, which would in turn harm the very rich? No, the memo says that the American economy, like the UK and Canadian economies, are driven by the rich. That there is no “the consumer”. If they wished to directly attack the housing market to create a disaster upon which they could profit, rake in monies bet upon such disaster, as well as becoming a new breed of robber land barons, they could do so without suffering economic harm or even worry in the process.

Was the “housing bubble” created on purpose, to not only create a reason to gain bailouts but to turn the people of this nation into renters, not owners? Who has information that they caused on purpose, the housing bubble? The predatory loans were purposeful as were the insurances taken out in hopes (knowledge) they would fail, but was the collapse greedy negligence or social engineering as in Greece, etc.?

Research Plutonomy in the roaring 20s, where the Memo says it exists. Conditions? What brought it about? Post WWI recovery, and what percentage went to the 1%?

The Memo says technical revolution is behind the previous waves of Plutonomy including the Roaring Twenties. Today, we have the $1 trillion spy tech economy, the permanent war budget, computing, pharma, weapons manufacture, the 0.01%. That is the third of three drivers of this market.

Plutonomists say in the memo that they prosper from right-wing, anti-immigration politics so why not work to install such when it does not hurt the Plutonomists in the process? In countries whose economy is not already dominated by them, why not drive the population to rebel against government (through brazen “austerity” measures) and even overthrow it, providing opportunity for the Plutonomists to install the right-wing, anti-immigration model they prefer?
Remember when Bush family friends OPEC embargo'd Democratic President Jimmy Carter, personally inconveniencing most Americans to the point of beginning to attack each other over places in gas lines? Then Saint Ronald Reagan was then installed, beginning their long process of destroying America's middle class and unions.
Oddly enough, Enron pulled the same stunt in California and got Republican Arnold Schwarzenneger installed, who immediately attacked infrastructure (nurses, firefighters, health and mental health care, etc.)

They have been systematically attacking obstacles to their rule. Note statements about these obstacles in the memo as well as what they want, go back a step, and see what they are doing/attacking to get it. It will well pay to find direct connection, and to deflect them.

The real economy and its factors.

Bailout for the low-income does not help the economy, page 8 of the memo:

So don't expect the very rich to do anything for the bottom 20% of the nation.

“Plutomony would likely drive...companies selling to or servicing the rich.” (Porche stock was at $777 a share.)

Where is Plutonomy occurring? Page 8 of the memo:

“Figure 1 shows...the top 1% of the population of income has grown substantially in countries such as the US, UK, and Canada. The countries, which apparently tolerate income inequality, are what we call Plutonomy countries: economies powered by a relatively small number of rich people.”

So our economy is driven by rich people. No wonder Wall Street is unregulated, and there is zero intent to bail out the poor. (Page 11: “We should worry less about the average consumer...”)

What has driven this? Pages nine and ten:
“The bull market in financial assets/equities (they want disinflation); the rise of managerial capitalism (managers/bosses making all the gains); an ongoing technological revolution (lists previous periods of growth; analyze for what happened to/stopped this growth).

There they are acting as police:

The elite multinational and Wall Street banks and investment banks have been preparing and waiting for this golden moment for years. Over the past few years, they have amassed war chests of infrastructure funds to privatize water, municipal services, and utilities all over the world. It will be extremely difficult to reverse this privatization trend in water.

The Occupy movement shone out like flame in the darkness—a beacon of the irrepressible spirit of democracy and a humane desire for justice. Unfortunately, the peacefully organized protests across America have often been met with derogatory commentaries in the mainstream media and, increasingly, state-sanctioned violence. The war against society has become a war against youthful protesters and increasingly bears a striking resemblance to the violence waged against Occupy movement protesters and the violence associated with the contemporary war zone.2 Missing from both the dominant media and state and national politics is an attempt to critically engage the issues the protesters are raising, not to mention any attempt to dialogue with them over their strategies, tactics, and political concerns. That many young people have become "a new class of stateless individuals ... cast into a threatening and faceless mass whose identities collapse into the language of debt, survival, and disposability" appears to have escaped the attention of the mainstream media.3 Matters of justice, human dignity, and social responsibility have given way to a double gesture that seeks to undercut democratic public spheres through the criminalization of dissent while also resorting to crude and violent forms of punishment as the only mediating tools to use with young people who are attempting to open a new conversation about politics, inequality, and social justice.

In the United States, the state monopoly on the use of violence has intensified since the 1980s and in the process has been directed disproportionately against young people, poor minorities, immigrants, women, and the elderly. Guided by the notion that unregulated, market-driven values and relations should shape every domain of human life, a business model of governance has eviscerated any viable notion of social responsibility and conscience, thereby furthering the dismissal of social problems and expanding cutbacks in basic social services.4 The examples are endless, but one in particular stands out. In March 2012, Texas governor Rick Perry7 joined eight other states in passing legislation to ban funding for clinics, including Planned Parenthood facilities, affiliated with abortion services for women.5 As a result, the federal government has stopped funding the Texas Women's Health Program. Unfortunately, this attempt by Perry to punish all women because of his antiabortion stance means that more than 130,000 women in Texas will not have access to vital services ranging from mammograms to health care for their children. There is more at work here than a resurgent war on women and their children or "an insane bout of mass misogyny."8 There is also a deep-seated religious and political authoritarianism that has become one of the fundamental pillars of what I call a neoliberal culture of cruelty. As the welfare state is hollowed out. a culture of compassion is replaced by a culture of violence, cruelty, waste, and disposability.7 Banks, hedge funds, and finance capital as the contemporary registers of class power have a new visibility, and their spokespersons are unabashedly blunt in supporting a corporate culture in which "ruthlessness is prized and money is the ultimate measure."8 Collective insurance policies and social protections have given way to the forces of economic deregulation, the transformation of the welfare state into punitive workfare programs, the privatization of public goods, and an appeal to individual culpability as a substitute for civic responsibility. At the same time, violence—or what Anne-Marie Cusac calls "American punishment"—travels from our prisons and schools to various aspects of our daily lives, "becoming omnipresent ... the shows we watch on television, the way many of us treat children some influential religious practices."9

David Harvey has argued that neoliberalism is "a political project to re-establish the conditions for capital accumulation and to restore the power of economic elites" through the implementation of "an institutional framework characterized by strong private property rights, free markets, and free trade."10 Neoliberalism is also a pedagogical project designed to create particular subjects, desires, and values defined largely by market considerations. National destiny becomes linked to a market-driven logic in which freedom is stripped down to freedom from government regulation, freedom to consume, and freedom to say anything one wants, regardless of how racist or toxic the consequences might be. This neoliberal notion of freedom is abstracted from any sense of civic responsibility or social cost. In fact, "neoliberalism is grounded in the idea of the 'free, possessive individual,'" with the state cast "as tyrannical and oppressive."11 The welfare state, in particular, becomes the archenemy of freedom. As Stuart Hall points out, according to apostles of free-market fundamentalism, 'The state must never govern society, dictate to free individuals how to dispose of their private property, regulate a free-market economy or interfere with the God-given right to make profits and amass personal wealth."12

Paradoxically, neoliberalism severely proscribes any vestige of social and civic agency through the figure of the isolated automaton for whom choice is reduced to the practice of endless shopping, fleeing from any sense of civic obligation, and safeguarding a radically individualized existence. Neoliberal governance translates into a state that attempts to substitute individual security for social welfare but in doing so offers only the protection of gated communities for the privileged and incarceration tor those considered flawed consumers or threats to the mythic ideal of a white Christian nation. Neoliberalism refuses to recognize how private troubles are connected to broader systemic issues, legitimating instead an ode to self-reliance in which the experience of personal misfortune becomes merely the just desserts delivered by the righteous hand of the free market—not a pernicious outcome of the social order being hijacked by an antisocial ruling elite and forced to serve a narrow set of interests. Critical thought and human agency are rendered impotent as neoliberal rationality "substitutes emotional and personal vocabularies for political ones in formulating solutions to political problems."13 Within such a depoliticized discourse, youths are told that there is no dream of the collective, no viable social bonds, only the actions of autonomous individuals who must rely on their own resources and who bear sole responsibility for the effects of larger systemic political and economic problems.

Monsanto and the coming food crisis

Climate change is real and present. Farmers are feeing candy to their cattle because grain is increasingly expensive; drought perseveres, frost alerts in southern California...if these conditions increase and in all likelihood they shall, food production at home will become increasingly imperative for a very good reason, aside from increasing prices and shortage:

Monsanto.

A few days ago I saw a few pages of the Wall Street Journal, discarded at a restaurant. I saw an article on Monsanto experiencing a 27% increase in GMO seed sales to South America, which evidently is still fertile and productive.

This means more GMO foods will be on their way to the US, where GMO labelling has yet to take any serious hold. I believe the article specified grains as being the focus; WSJ have a paywall so I can't link to the article.

Making your own bread becomes important. I love the Ezekiel 4:9 bread, which is taken from a Bible verse (!). It's a good recipe, find it there.

Also, know which grains go into what foods. Soybeans? That's a lotta GMO. Etc.!

This is of course the truth. Occupy have long since become painfully aware of it, and have become their own media, and sought alternative coverage where available. Know that you will possibly never reach everyone (unless you have the budget for repeated television commercials citing how your cause also directly and immediately effects the viewer) but you, and we, cannot stop. This is not a cause for discouragement.

Occupy use Twitter and Facebook more and more. Allies in media have been found in the Spanish-speaking channels such as Telemundo and Noticias, Spanish-speaking newspapers, the Iranian state television/internet channel PressTV, and the Russian state television/internet channel RT News.

The Spanish-speaking channels can share your outrage at mistreatment and lies and injustice. PressTV and RT delight in clearly detailing anything embarrassing to the US (and Canadian) governments.

Who are your allies, who have this experience? The Quebec student movement who just beat tuition increases are extremely effective and would have a great deal to share. They used a tactic of full-time protesting; people would come in groups assigned for 8-hour shifts, so that there were always rested, energetic protesters present at any target. All day and all night! Banging pots and pans! If the government knows they can outwait you, that you'll simply go home after a period of protest, they win. If they know you're not going anywhere, and are gaining sympathy and attention, you win.

You already know that violence of any sort would give them the opportunity to crack down. You also know they love to send undercover agents to attempt to start violence, acting as if they are one of you and with you, so you will be blamed. And worst, they can seek to offer weapons and explosives to any who may be frustrated. Let all your people know to never cooperate with these types and situations.

If they begin sending the police to break up protests and dances, record everything and make internet alerts including video. Create sympathy. Everyone hates a bully. Know that police will work to frustrate and anger you in order to create arrestable responses. This includes them targeting the young and old to induce outrage and again, arrests. Don't feed the trolls! Sing happy songs at them, laugh and be joyous! They have no idea what to do.

The tactics of Martin Luther King, Jr. come to mind. The Civil Rights Movement endured, and gained ground.

The papers and television will continue to lie. This shows you that you have been noticed and are considered dangerous enough that they have to respond. Good. You are winning. The "comments" sections of related stories online will bring out the absolute worst in the absolute worst people. This is normal. Do not be discouraged, as they wish. Some of them are government officials posing as citizens, hoping to create despair, to defeat you. Media will attempt to interview anyone they feel will give them something they can use against you. Have media representatives who will be the only ones who will talk to media at any protest/dance, and let all present know to simply and always refer media to them. (I've seen US media cameramen mock and attempt to anger Codepink members into giving them an angry response, which they'd of course use over and over against them...)

You are already having a massive effect. Do not stop! Persevere! We are with you! Tell us how to help. Gather those similar and build the power to change everything! I of course only speak for myself and not the entire Occupy movement, but I am seeing interaction and pray it continues and increases!

How has it been for Occupy? Last week, Occupy Fights Foreclosures followed up the Rose Parade with a float including several people either in foreclosure fraud or at close risk. Last year, Wells Fargo sponsored the parade as Occupiers peacefully demonstrated. This year? From the LA Times, straight out of a cop's mouth:

In Los Angeles, the "Broken Windows" theory, that a single broken window in any area will cause people to devalue said area and to begin destroying it, that it is a tipping point to destruction, is used to criminalize the homeless and poor. If there is a homeless person in the area, the theory theorizes, more will come and BUSINESS WILL SUFFER. We of course cannot have that; never mind ending human suffering and trivial notions along those lines.

Now, I say that their precious Broken Windows theory should be used as a measure of police misconduct. If one cop gets away with unduly harming a citizen, whom they are supposed to serve and protect, then by the theory that unchecked misconduct is an open door, a pleading, for the rest to move to that same level and beyond.

Each and every act of police misconduct must be taken deadly seriously by the city because any single adequately unpunished case obviously must demand others to become abusive! And if only the worst cases are inadequaltely punished, this throws open the door for cops to do whatever they feel they can get away with because they know they will not be punished.

Any group gathered for purposes of unaccountability is both immediately disqualified and a threat to those around them.

Abusive cops, knowing that they will not be punished. There is something terribly wrong with this country.

Bank of America: Despicable beyond Measure

In March 2012, Occupy Fights Foreclosures arrived at Dirma Rodriguez' home after her panic'd phone call to find her and her family and property put out on the street by Bank of America and a home flipper company. This includes Ingrid, a severely disabled 27 year-old who can neither speak nor care for herself.

After two months of fighting to regain her home, including harassing phone calls from BofA after a page 2 LA Times article on this very family and foreclosure (April 13 2012), Occupy Fights Foreclosure discovered fraud in the foreclosure proceeding and forced Bank of America to return their home. The only home Ingrid has ever known, which was customized for her special needs. Among the customizations: Rose bushes all around the yard so that wherever Ingrid goes, she will encounter beauty.

Now, the Hernandez family of the San Fernando Valley in California have been struggling against Bank of America and associated agencies to keep their home, a struggle lasting over four years. Twenty-some days ago, after failing to get BofA and associated agencies to work with them or even reply, the Hernandez family found a notice to vacate on their property. Members of this family happen to be part of Occupy San Fernando Valley, and Occupations across Southern California including the always-solid Occupy Skid Row set up an occupation and a barricade in front of the house against the inevitable sheriff's assault. (Sheriffs do what banks tell them to do. Sort of a private army, little changed from the days of the "wild west" and robber barons doing land grabs.) Since then, they have been reaching out to neighbors, building community, sharing food and the message of fighting for our homes. And gaining some media attention.

Last night, LAPD and Child Protective Services arrived unannounced at 12:04AM and asked to see the Hernandez children...!

There are obviously water and electricity in the home and the children are happy.

LAPD and CPS showed up again this afternoon so they are obviously intending to force this angle.

Children are not tools for foreclosure. They are not levers to force families into losing their homes. If BofA hate the bad publicity they are justifiably receiving, it is because they are doing things which should be publicly reviled, which demand such publicity. Kicking a victim of extreme cerebral palsy onto the street. Faking concern for the Hernandez children to steal their home. So you can sell foreclosed homes in bulk...

Bank of America, you should be ended. You are despicable beyond measure.

For the second time in five months, Bank of America is tapping the red-hot market for foreclosed homes by seeking bids on a bulk offering of several hundred single-family homes.

Over the past several weeks, the nation’s second-largest bank by assets has solicited bids for a bulk deal that includes up to 500 largely vacant single-family homes, some of which BofA acquired after its merger with Countrywide Financial, according to several sources within the real estate and mortgage sectors. Oh, there IS a difference between the two political parties. However, note that neither the RNC nor the DNC mentioned PFC Manning, now 2 years in solitary confinement for revealing the lies of Bush's war; the NDAA, NDRP, HR347, the military industrial complex taking 50+ percent of our tax dollars under an infinite war standing, student debt totaling over one trillion dollars because it's a bankster scam, getting back the 16 trillion given away by the Fed and others to wall street and banks for bonuses, 7000+ Occupiers arrested and brutalized over the last year for talking about these very things (mostly attacked by "democratic" mayors such as Quan, Villaraigosa, etc.)... There IS a difference, but it is =not= where it matters, where it will actually solve the problems destroying us. Income inequality is utterly out of control, unions are being destroyed, the middle class is vanishing under long-term attack...and they're pushing the TPP which is NAFTA (passed by Clinton) on steroids...who mentioned an immediate foreclosure moratorium, much less an investigation into the (known for 2+ years) illegal robosigning mills? Wells Fargo and BofA are two criminal organizations still stealing homes at record rates through provably fraudulent means, yet they are allowed to continue at will. Why? Because it's been found that Wall Street are buying up foreclosed properties in bulk. There are more empty homes in American than there are homeless people (and many of the homeless are Veterans). Was there any mention of immediate care for Veterans, who desperately need it? What about the terrible percentage of Veterans who are killing themselves?

Neither party will address these issues either at all or in any meaningful manner. They continue to have to shut down social services (such as former Goldman Sachs lackey Rahm Emmanuel shutting down several mental health care clinics recently in Chicago, and now with Chicago teachers at the edge of striking...) Infrastructure problems are the result of forced "austerity", which means the people have to fund the theft of those trillions of dollars, or at least feel the result. Because no one is doing a single thing to retrieve it. There is no difference between the parties there. Where it most matters. National parks are being sold to foreign investors because "there's no money". Some people are getting extremely rich this way, through selling off America, and neither party is saying a word to stop it. The DHS and TSA are quietly expanding their presence and power as part of a power grab and we are happily allowing ourselves to become normalized to it, because it is occurring in increments, not all at once. Drones! They are setting up drones in our skies and newly-announced "wraith" ground drones which can travel 65MPH and climb over obstacles...to stop what? I don't see any terrorists, just US citizens. But that doesn't matter because arms dealers, the same ones who paid representatives to vote yes for the NDAA, need a new market, and a new market requires a new enemy. WE are that new enemy. Protest is already defined in a DoD manual as "low-level terrorism". Now the FBI are raiding protesters' homes on suspicion, not fact...same tactics used against the civil rights movement. The 1st Amendment is very nearly gone, and they're starting on the 4th (TSA, etc.).

Non-Occupiers aren't getting that with the citizens united ruling still around, this election is most likely decided by the rich. No one is serious about striking it down NOW when it matters. Our votes are less and less important in a system based upon limitless corporate campaign donations ("Fascism").

Occupy Skid Row is gone. LA Times lies about them

This story is mostly about Occupy Skid Row and of course leaves out critical details such as police arresting people for things such as not having their tents fully disassembled, leaving the reader to assume all Row arrests are for actual "crime". And that they confiscated Catholic Worker carts which they aren't supposed to touch. And more... ~MP

The CCA, a lobbying group who are the real power in this city, have been using the LA Times to demonize the homeless over the last several months as part of an effort to snatch up that cheap property and turn it into privately-owned pricey rentals.

OccupyLA joined LA CAN and other community networks against the CCA and their criminalization of the homeless by staging a nightly tent-in at 626 Wilshire, their office door. CCA have since been using LA Times to demonize OccupyLA. The police they own were used to create last month's police riot against the citizens of downtown during Artwalk in hopes the people of the city would blame Occupy. They failed. They will try again tonight.

So how should we view the dynamic regarding city hall, the CCA, and LAPD regarding the homeless and homeless support organizations?

Huge Subsidy for Stadium Architect

Villaraigosa quietly plans to hand Gensler $1 million meant for the poor

"How did Los Angeles city leaders turn $1 million intended to help downtown’s homeless and low-income denizens into a proposed subsidy for the global architecture firm designing downtown’s proposed NFL football stadium?

That's how. This downtown stadium would help CCA and would use CCA "private security", increasing their power grab against the people of downtown. And the homeless? They're in the way.

Please note the LA Times article (and of course the CCA website) makes no mention of nuisance arrests targeting, criminalizing the homeless, or of police captains and lieutenants wasting taxpayer money arresting people over tents.

There have been more arrests on the Row than there are residents. That's just wrong. This is only about gentrification, about profit and power.

Captain Frank also gave the orders at July's Artwalk to arrest anyone chalking (more Artwalkers than Occupiers). They wished people to blame Occupy for their arrests but all they managed to do was enrage citizens into resisting in large numbers.

Time to abandon a system which won't be changed

That feeling of frustration is a desire to live in a manner not supported by the system yet shown to be desirous: the camps. To live together, to work together, to struggle together, to make things work and to be confused together as things are figured out. By ourselves and each other, for ourselves and each other.

This of course is no easy undertaking. I propose "an Amish barn-raising", in which a community must build the micro-housing for every member, care for and supply every member, and figure out how every member may contribute as they are capable/willing/interested.

Two things occur: The existing system will seek to destroy this challenge as it has demonstrated is its wont. Secondly, it is as successful as the combination of people, location, resources, problem-solving, and willingness/drive are involved.

Hippy commune? GREAT! Hippy cult leaders? Well, they're going say so and use whatever means available to injure and prevent it. So lawyer the fuck up and have people in the nearest city deflecting the hell out of any evil intent against you. Because they cannot bear competition; they cannot bear anyone showing to others who may leave and/or demand it, that there is a better way.

The best way to be ignored is to be far, far away from that which would be threatened. The problems there are accessing supplies and skills not present at the site. Another problem is proportionate vulnerability to those who would interfere; the need to be able to solve such problems, without drawing down external interference.

Skillsets involving living with the land. Local 1st Nation members may be willing to teach us younger brothers and sisters their skills and way of living and overall wisdom.

Knowledge and books regarding living in small group dynamics (including the psychology of small group dynamics), problem resolution, etc.

Medical skills, general medical training for the group, perishable medical supplies; knowledge of your nearest supply centers and skill centers.

Electrical skills and supplies regarding extracting and storing electricity. Solar, water and wind turbines, storage batteries. Solar-powered BBQs are available.

Connection to the internet.

The ability to protect yourselves from those who would interfere. This is perhaps the trickiest actual bit, as those most interested in your failure will use any excuse to sniff out "threats" to their system on whim. Local law enforcement can become suspicious as you well know. Be sure to be friendly and generous with locals; you need them on your side.

Know the local megafauna and microfauna. Beneficial plants and herbs? Dangerous snakes, spiders, wolves, etc.? How to keep them away/live in harmony with them? Does the area suffer from a history of spring flooding/flash flooding during storms? Etc.

The major issue beyond finding and permanently securing viable ground is climate change. It is real, it is here, and is currently manifesting in a 10% jump in food prices as 50+ percent of the US lies in emergency-level drought conditions. Today's LA Times has a story on how the Mississippi river is again being tricky due to drought, and if grain and corn shipments cannot be brought to market within 10 days, they will begin to spoil and we'll witness another jump in prices.

This is exacerbated through food commodities trading, mis-use of farmland for corn products, lobbying etc. All this will become increasingly visible as food stocks evaporate. Will they be able to get their greedy ass shit together and solve these problems? Depends upon the greedy and the need of the people. I for one believe you will have to be able to take care of yourselves completely.

Another tragic winter, early frost or continuing drought, will bring these issues well into the general public by this time next year. If you are set up near cities dependent upon the importation of foodstuffs, you may be increasingly subject to requests for membership to an unsustainable point, as well as a point where requests are no longer polite. Know your area and set up your initial shop accordingly.

-If 20 Occupiers can "hijack" thousands of people by using a few sticks of chalk, then society is about to fall.
-Chalking is not a major incident. The city-wide alert last month even said so.
-Police fired upon Artwalkers and locals. This was long after the arrests and brutality against the chalkers. The arrests and brutality LED to Artwalkers and locals standing up and resisting it.
-Art is art. Free expression is free expression. How does that not contribute to society at large? Does he claim the beautiful 1st Amendment chalkupy at Pershing Square is not art, or that its creation does not contribute? What does then? Sales of art, hmmmm?

Tonight, a "chalkupy" event at Pershing Square is set to coincide with the Downtown LA Art Walk. It comes after a chalking protest during the monthly event turned into a melee in July.

"The Art Walk was co-opted by the agitators because they knew it would guarantee an audience," the walk's director said.

-POLICE turned it into a melee after hundreds of artwalkers and locals stood up and resisted LAPD brutality in the form of over a dozen violent arrests over the use of water-soluble chalk, including of messages supportive of police. There were only 20 or so Occupiers present. This does not parse with the fact of hundreds resisting the LAPD. POLICE were the only aggressors. Unless you somehow imagine children's chalk to be a weapon. (It IS, but only to those it threatens, meaning the CCA who are attempting to fully own downtown and who have stated a desire to eliminate "intelligence-based grafitti", because it can obviously tell the truth about them and their plans and Fascist influence of city hall legislation. -The walk's director is utterly overlooking the fact that LAPD fired upon hundreds of people in violation of the apparent (unconfirmed) rules of use regarding "less-lethal" weapons, which are never to be directly aimed at bodies or more especially, heads (one passer-by was shot in the face). "Less-lethal" weapons are still just that: weapons. They can definitely kill if misused. Nice concern there for your artwalk patrons...

-And if 20 people writing with children's chalk can "agitate" the entire area into a melee, then this city is utterly doomed. Imagine if 30 or 40 had shown up.

-Party vibe? It's mostly about money changing hands, not fun and free expression. It's mostly about people showing and selling art, not people making their own as artistic, creative inspiration reveals itself.

One man was shot in the chest at close range, then kicked in the head by police as they arrested him. That can kill and it is not mentioned at all.
-Does not mention that LAPD created the conflict from the beginning through shoving citizens around, aggressive arrests, intimidation, saying "chalk is illegal for now"...video clearly displays people calling out in amazement as police make violent arrests for water-soluble chalk. LAPD created outrage through outrageous behavior. They should not be surprised that Artwalkers and locals, watching from above, became outraged and resisted.
-Does not challenge the heinous proposition of a "free speech zone" for Occupy within Artwalk.
-"They also talked about what, exactly, the Occupy protest was all about." Is it just me or does this imply that Occupy itself does not know? Because the single quote they printed is highly important but is not expanded into its desperate details such as homelessness for the young who have degrees but cannot find work, and it also might imply there were no more "meaningful" answers given such as ending Citizens United to remove unlimited money from elections and politics, re-instating Glass-Steagall to reel in the banksters, etc. I know Ryan and he's always extremely well-spoken and articulate, so this one quote from him leads me to believe that more was said but was not printed.
And most especially the part about Citizens United, and money and corporations controlling/influencing the state. Because that's Fascism as defined by Benito Mussolini, and this is exactly what CCA are doing.
-Much of what is important is in the second half of this article. Do people these days read the first few paragraphs and believe they have the entire story, and does media take advantage of this?
-The stated heavy police presence and its stated negative effect upon business is obviously contradictory to the printed article's title: "Party vibe wins out at Artwalk". Quotes, if they do not appear in the online article:
"...Jacky Herrera complained that all the police had sucked the energy from the typically jovial event. 'I think it hinders a lot of folks from coming out,' she said of the police presence. 'It definitely slows the traffic down.'"
So the CCA and LAPD are responsible for this problem, not Occupy, not chalk. CHALK!
-There is something in there about Occupiers stealing shirts from a vendor. This is the first I've heard of it and I'm calling bullshit. Downtown is also home to thousands of homeless people too, in desperate need. And Occupy feeds them at Pershing Square.
-It is not stated that Occupy has attended Artwalk since Occupy began, and the the arrests and brutality and obvious targeting began shortly after Occupy began camping nightly on the doorstep of the CCA at 626 Wilshire.

Owing to the CCA-sponsored "safer cities initiative" and other business-oriented influence over police numbers on Skid Row and their obvious influence over LA Times and DTLA "News", I also cannot believe LAPD are able to act independently of their influence and agenda. There likely can be no "peace" between those seeking an end to Fascism in our city, and those who are the Fascists (CCA). So long as those seeking this end are actively and even violently prevented from speaking this truth in various forms, it will not be peace. Peace will be the elimination of the so-called "shirts" who are private Corporate security roving OUR streets. Peace will be the elimination of Corporate influence in city hall. Peace will be the elimination of such obvious control where none is needed, where it interferes with the people of this city. All of them, regardless of income level or address or lack of address.When their policy against "intelligence-based graffiti" results in aggressive arrests and riot police, over water-soluble chalk, something must change, and it is not the chalk.

Again, the CCA obviously cannot tolerate whatsoever any threat to their establishment and plans. Part of the reason for Artwalk is to get money to change hands. This is all over the August 10th LA Times article. But freedom isn't about money; money can be the enemy of freedom when its interests are deemed to be more important. With CCA's plan against "intelligence-based graffiti" (and even the sinister "Neighborhood Prosecutors") and their corporate security patrols throughout downtown, and their direct and bragged-about influence of city hall in favor of corporate-friendly legislation, money is obviously more important than freedom.

LAPD may believe that they have allowed something better to occur. This is entirely countered by their exceeding presence at Artwalk, obviously intent as yesterday's article stated, vowing to make arrests, and obviously to escalate again into a police riot should they not get their way. Allowing would mean to allow "intelligence-based graffiti" at Artwalk without heavy police presence, arrests, intimidation, brutality, less-lethal weaponry...it means staying away and allowing. It's chalk. Water-soluble children's sidewalk chalk. A low-pressure garden hose obliterates it instantly. If chalkers get out of perceived hand, wash it off with a garden hose. There IS no problem, except to the CCA who cannot tolerate criticism. They need a serious time-out. There is a large difference between being free and knowing there are good public servants around to keep the peace should the need arise, and being allowed a crumb of the complete freedom righteously ours, under the dark cloud of "do what we say or else". It is as giving a prisoner a special treat; they still know they are prisoners. This is not the Stanford Experiment. A sea change is required. And is possible.

Captain Frank also gave the orders at July's Artwalk to arrest anyone chalking (more Artwalkers than Occupiers). They wished people to blame Occupy for their arrests but all they managed to do was enrage citizens into resisting in large numbers.

All of this so CCA can gentrify Downtown for their own personal profit and power, all the while convincing you they are friends.
